Baiju Chandran, the first television news producer of Doordarshan Kendra, Thiruvananthapuram was the one who filled the evenings of Malayalis with meaningful programmes likes Talk shows, quiz and debates in the past.
He has now chosen the path of documentaries and tele-films that convey social messages. Ninachalozhukiya Nalvazhikal and Sakunam are his noted documentary and tele-films. Presently the assistant director of Doordarshan Kendra, he is busy with a new short film titled Sree Parvathyude Paadam (The holy feet of Goddess Parvathy) based on E.Harikumar’s famous short-story of the same title.
The movie will be aired on the first week of November. The film revolves around two women who symbolise and represent two different aspects of life. Baiju Chandran says with spirited enthusiasm, "Madhavi and Saradha are the leading characters. Madhavi comes to her sister Saradha’s home and finds solace on the lap of nature. However, her arrival creates confusion in Saradha’s life While Madhavi finds happiness in the nature around her, Saradha lives in misery and worries about future all the time."
He says the reason for choosing E.Harikumar’s short story is its universal significance where one woman represents nature and other one represents selfishness of humanity." says Baiju. Baiju feels that people are not interested in serious movies and literature and instead, spend time on meaningless TV programmes."My aim is to make the viewers aware of the need to protect our nature. I hope to create a good impact on the society with this film" he says.
Singer Anjana Haridas and actress Sona Nair play the lead roles. M.G. Sasi,Valsala Menon and Baby Savithri form the rest of the cast.
